The problem you are describing occurs for both Vista users and also users of Windows XP / 2000.

The solution while similar does vary depending on the operating system you use and also the prefered Browser you are using. As you did not post the OS or Browser you use pop up the general solutions and hopefully the one you need will be among them.

First, the error itself is caused because the default command to open the url in an application (that is a browser in this case) has been corrupted or set wrong by the user.

Outlook is a Microsoft product and by default will attempt to open an URL in a Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, but you may be using Firefox, or some other browser.

However, lets assume first you only use Internet Explorer and have no other browser installed.

If that is the case them regardless of the operating system you use all you need to do is the following:

1. Open Internet Explorer window
2. Click Tools | Internet Options | open the Programs tab
3. At top of tab click the Make Default button
4. Click Apply | Ok etcetera then close window

Now you may well prefer to use Firefox or some other browser, so in that case the following fixes are based on what operating system you use.

For Windows Vista users:

1. Press Microsoft key (next to CTRL key) and R to open Run Dialog

2. Type REGEDIT and click OK

3. In the Registry Editor window that opens, navigate in the left hand pane by expanding the folders listed to get to tis location:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTFirefoxURLshellopenddeexec

4. Click on the folder ddeexcec once so it opens in right hand pane.

Now in Right hand pane right click on first entry (Default) and select Modify

In the Value Data line that shows :: delete all present which by default will probably read :: "%1",,0,0,,,,

With the Value Data line deleted and left EMPTY click OK and close Registry Editor window

With all that done you ought to be able to open Urls from OutLook and side bar etcetera into a Firefox browser window and have no problems.

For Windows 2000 | Windows XP users:

1. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer)

2. Select Tools | Folder Options | File Types

3. Select Extension: “(NONE)” File Type: Transfer Protocol”

4. Click Advanced and in the File window select Open | click Edit

5. Remove the check mark (tick) next to DDE'
Note: When you do this the dialogue below will disappear

6. Click OK for that dialog and the next one (afterwards, the “Use DDE” box is still checked but the “DDE Message” box will be cleared)

7. Repeat Steps 3 to 6 for the following extensions if you need to:

Extension: “(NONE)” File Type: Transfer Protocol with Privacy” (and any other protocols you want to fix)

Extension: “(NONE)” File Type: “Firefox URL”

Extension: “HTM” (or “HTML”) File Type: “Firefox Document”

Well hopefully something there will solve your issue for your PC.

I realize not everyone shares my same obsession with their health, haha. Since he is active, eating, and pooping, a good indicator of his health. You can try giving him extra calcium supplementation and making sure he is basking under a UVB light regularly and see if he is able to regain any strength in his legs. impossible to know if he will recover or not without knowing how progressed the damage is. But like I said, you can try and see. If he regresses at all, definitely get him to a vet though.
